Motionless and Bladeless Wind Turbines

The motionless and bladeless wind turbine called Electrostatic WInd energy CONverter(EWICON) charges water droplets positively in an electric field. The device is insulated from the earth and as the wind blows the droplets away, voltage is built up which can be used for regular power usage. There are 2 working prototypes in the Netherlands.

Another bladeless turbine which is not motionless called the Saphonian. Wind energy is captured by pistons creating hydraulic pressure allowing energy capture with a hydraulic accumulator or motor and generator.  There are working prototypes and they cost less to manufacture. They also claim that they are twice as efficient as moving wind turbines.
